Custer County Fire Department responds to all Structure, Wildland, Vehicle and Hazardous Materials. Burn Permits are available to the public by stopping by the fire hall and picking up the paperwork.  Training is every Monday nights starting at 6:00 pm at the fire hall. The public is welcome to visit the hall and speak with any firefighter.

 

We also maintain a fleet of fire trucks and command vehicle consisting of:

  • Three pumpers:
  • a 1988 Young Crusader II with a 6 man cab and a 1250 GPM pump with a 1000 gallon booster tank (R-2) 
  • a 1977 International Fire Engine with a 1000 gallon tank (R-5) 
  • a 1988 Oshkosh with 1000 gallons and a 1250 GMP pump (R3)
  • Three water tenders:
  • a 1972 Chevy with a 2500 gallon tank (FT 203)
  • a 1991 GMC Top kick 2000 gallon Tender w/PTO (R-7)
  • a 1980 Chevy 2500 gallon Tender (FT205)
  • Fast Response Trucks:
  • a Type 4 truck with 800 gallon tank (FT214)
  • Fast response trucks with 300 gallon slid in tank (FT 118)
  • a 2010 ford 1 1/2 ton with 500 gallon slid in tank (FT 121)
  • A 1990 three-quarter ton four-wheel drive Ford with a utility box carrying a 200 gallon water tank and a 15 gallon foam cell (R-1)
  • A 1989 Ford Econoline ambulance converted to a Hazmat vehicle (R-10)
  • With multiple trucks placed in the county to provided added help for grass fires.
